The Scottish influence at the Open might have been minimal at the weekend, with only Colin Montgomerie flying the Saltire. But the Diary can report that strawberries and raspberries from the land where golf was born have been going down a treat. Sodexo Prestige, the catering company which deals with the “fancy end” of corporate hospitality, have a contract to work at this and the next three opens, and they have turned to Perthshire based Bruce’s of Balmyle to provide the strawbs and rasps for the more discerning customer to gobble down in the posh marquees dotter around Royal Birkdale’s acres.
